JOG FALLS SHIMOGA DIST. KARNATAKA, INDIA
One of India's Natural wonders, free falling from a height of 239m, it's the second highest Plunge waterfall in India after the Nohkalikai Falls in the east Khasi district of Meghalaya. Jog falls also called Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi. It is a part of the sharavathi river and reaches its magnificent best in the monsoon months of june-september. It is easily accessible by road, we drove from mangalore through bhatkal then sagara and then to jog, a distance of around 220km. If you happen to be in India this is a must see! the water at Jog is regulated by the Linganamaki dam, used for hydroelectricity. During the early years of independence this was a significant contributor to the grid, generating 55MW but now of course there are bigger projects. The Jog wterfalls are named RAJA, ROARER, ROCKET AND RANI in the same order when seen from the tourism department stairs not from the giant slabs next to RAJA, and you won't think the names are totally random, they are pretty descriptive! On the way back we also stopped at Chikkamagalur which is a coffee growing district and hill station, if you are here make a visit to mullhyangiri the highest peaks in Karnataka at 1930m believe me the wind up there is pretty rough, and remember to go to the peak opposite the parking area coz thats where the wind is like hurricane force you can lean forward on your toes without falling!. Enjoy the photographs below, my buddies Vinayak, Karthick, Praveen, Dileep and me! links are at the bottom!!

Jog Falls is the Beauty of India. When we visited there before niagara falls boston tour at that time the intensity of water had reduced. First we went to viewpoint of Rocket Falls. Rocket and Raja are quite near to each other. It roared which caught my attention. This area is quite relaxing and I’ll remember this tour forever.
